Latent fingerprints are lifted from crime scenes in a routine procedure that is extremely important to forensics and law enforcement agencies. Since it contains as small regions of fingerprint, latents have a significantly smaller number of minutiae points compared to full (rolled or plain) fingerprints. The small number of minutiae and the noise characteristic of latents make it extremely difficult to automatically match latents to their mated full prints that are stored in law enforcement databases. To overcome this problem, the automatic segmentation is used. An important step in an automatic fingerprint recognition system is the process of automatically segmenting the fingerprint images. In this paper, the segmentation process consists of the three blocks namely (i) segmentation of Orientation feature, (ii) Segmentation of Frequency feature and (iii) Post processing. The Orientation Feature process is used to obtain the fingerprint ridge orientations, the Frequency Feature process is used to obtain the local ridge frequencies of the fingerprint. The Post Processing method combine these two results to find the candidate fingerprint regions (foreground). The proposed scheme achieves accurate segmentation for latent matching of fingerprint. This system improves the accurate segmentation of foreground and background regions from latent fingerprint images. This system gives 77% of accuracy to detect a foreground region from latent fingerprint images.

The objective of this paper is to make a traditional process called scheduling much more finite and easy to use in textile industry. In textile industry, complex equipments are to be used precisely in such a way that the product being produced is completely finished within the given time. Also, when dealing with fewer counts of yarns, the process is quite easy to handle. But, if a huge sum of yarn counts are present in the situation, the process becomes quite complex and leads to more processing time. In order to reduce such complexity, time optimization, Tabu search algorithm is used. Main problem is decomposed into independent sub problems so that the algorithm can be parallelized on multiple processors. Each sub problem is solved on a different processor. With the algorithm being processed, corresponding programs are created with help of the programming language JAVA. The output of the program are obtained and validated with actual results.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SOLAR WATER HEATER USING NANOFLUID

J.Ganesh Moorthy M.E
1 PG Scholar, Solar Energy Anna University, Trichy, India.

Solar water heater is the most popular means of solar energy utilization because of technological feasibility and economic attraction compared with other kinds of solar energy utilization. The system can supply hot water at 50 oC and 80 oC which can be used for both domestic and industrial purposes. Heat transfer enhancement in solar devices is one of the key issues of energy saving and compact designs. Nanofluids are the new kind of heat transfer fluid containing a very small quantity of nano particles that are uniformly and stably suspended in fluids. Nanofluids are high thermal conductivity than conventional fluids. Numerical model of the solar water heating system has been developed by using water and nanofluid as a base fluid. The objective of this paper is to improve the efficiency of solar water heating system by using nanofluids as a working fluid and improving the efficiency of solar water heater than the water as a working fluid by theoretically. The theoretical calculations were made and the result shows that the 10.88% of an improved efficiency is observed at .025% volume fraction of the nanofluids.

This paper is aimed at to evaluate the mechanical properties and durable properties of High Performance Concrete (HPC) with Micro Calcite (MC) as a mineral admixture. In this project, the cement is replaced by MC powder with five different replacement levels, namely, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% in HPC of M60 grade. Concrete using the aforesaid replacement levels are prepared and the following tests were conducted in order to find the optimum replacement level of MC. With respect to fresh concrete, the following tests were conducted and the test results are exhibited in tables. Slump cone test and Compaction factor test were conducted. With regard to other samples after 7, 14 and 28 days curing, cube compression, Split tension and flexural strength were found. For all the tests 99 cubes, 54 cylinders and 54 prisms were cast, cured and tested as per Indian standard code provisions. Over and above the conventional test, the following specialized tests were conducted for durability such as permeability test, Sulphate attack test and Chloride attack test. In order to recommend HPC with MC powder for water retaining structures, water tanks etc., permeability test was conducted and the results found suggest it is less permeable than conventional concrete. When this concrete is exposed to chemical fumes, sulphate and chloride attack in sewers, and sewage treatment plant and chemical factories specific test on sulphate and chloride attack were conducted and found to perform better than conventional concrete. Finally the results exhibit that HPC with 15% replacement of cement by Micro calcite gives the maximum strength and very low permeability. It also show a lesser sulphate and chloride attack by showing minimum loss of weight and minimum loss of strength. Thus it is clear that conventional concrete materials in combination with MC mineral admixture can be utilized for making HPC and such concrete can be effectively used in structures which are exposed to severe chemical attacks.

The project entitled “Grievances Handling System” is designed to develop an on-line speech-to-text engine. The system acquires speech at run time through a microphone and processes the sampled speech to recognize the uttered text. The recognized text can be stored in a file. We are developing this on android platform using eclipse workbench. Our speech-to-text system directly acquires and converts speech to text. Speech recognition for Voice uses a technique based on hidden Markov models (HMM -Hidden Markov Model) in Android Mobile Phones. It is currently the most successful and most flexible approach to speech recognition. Translation system translates Tamil sentences to English Sentences. The Translation is done with the help of word dictionary file. The word dictionary file contains around 5000 words. If a word in an input sentence does not exist in the dictionary file then it will be considered as a proper noun. So those words are transliterated to the target language. Transliteration is implemented using the rule based technique. After the sentences are translated into the target language the morphological analyzing has to be done. This project Grievances Handling System deals with interaction between admin and public to enhance the customer comfort by processing the complaints forwarded by them and reporting them with proper response through mail and SMS. This makes the railway system more efficient to use. Once the complaint reported by the customer he/she will receive with reply soon as the passengers are the source of the railway system. Public can report about any department via telephone (Speech to Text) Process ,The information will be converted into (Tamil To English) English, after the information is stored in Text format (Pdf). The admin view the complaints under every department. And they pass those complaints to the particular department for the further action. Once, the complaint will rectify, that action will stored in action database. And, that action message will send as sms & mail to the people that who registered that complaint. This project is specially designed for Railway department.
